Get Involved

Sustainability Committee

Involvement is always welcome at the Sustainability Council. The mission of the Sustainability Council, formerly known as the University Environmental and Energy Conservation Council (UEECC) is to develop policies and strategies that reflect Lewis University's commitment to sustainable practices, which meet our Get-Involved.jpg current needs without compromising resources for future generations.

The Council promotes responsible environmental stewardship to accomplish its mission, which calls for personal responsibility in the care of the planet.

The Sustainability Council is committed to leading by example. In this regard, University activities are conducted in a manner that conserves natural resources in a sustainable manner, protects the health and safety of students, faculty, and staff as well as the surrounding community, and promotes environmental education, local action, and global awareness.

Sustainability Club

Bench Bottle Caps

On behalf of the sustainability club we would like to thank the Lewis community for participating in the Eco leader bench project. Our targeted goal was 400lbs and we exceeded that by collecting 536lbs by the time of delivery, which is remarkable! On April 23rd, 2018 we presented the bench at our bench unveiling ceremony. Currently, the bench is located facing the prairie plot on the Southeast side of the Science Building. When you have a chance I would recommend checking out what the end result of what all of our hard work has contributed to.

I am pleased to announce that we will continue our efforts in cap collection in hopes of providing a recycled picnic table for Lewis University. Our targeted goal for this continued project is going to be 550lbs. The preliminary plan on location is to be placed on the nature trail. I will provide updates on our progress throughout the upcoming months. Keep up the great work and be on the lookout for drop-off locations inside all campus buildings and resident halls. Continue to spread the world and help to reduce our impact.
